Sporting Motorcycle Club Geelong - Barrabool Senior Sundays Motocross

The Barrabool Senior Sundays is an initiative put up by the Sporting Motorcycle Club to provide a fun, laid back grass roots natural terrain motocross meetings for senior riders of all ages and all disciplines.

To cater for junior racers these days requires multiple classes for different ages/capacities so we want to put the focus back on senior riders to have their own race meeting. No matter what you ride there'll be a class for you, we even have a Clubman class for those occasional riders who just want to go out and turn some laps on a well prepped race track.

We're offering longer races for the fast riders who want to hone their racecraft and races for the enduro pilots who want to sharpen their skills on a variety of different circuits. The first Senior Sunday was on the Barrabool motocross track, subsequent Senior Sundays have also offered grass track and endurocross style circuits.

We're aiming to cater for all types of riders, two stroke or four, old or older! We've got a class for you.

If you're not yet a club member then we are offering special introductory memberships for the day and also subsidising the cost of one day competition licenses if you require one. Basically it means that if you've never raced before then you can turn up and have a go at a discounted price compared to what it would normally cost.

Here's how how it works:

This is a Club level event open to riders 16 y.o. and over
Teams only - 2 riders on 2 bikes - or - 2 riders on one bike. Your choice! (Sorry no ironman)
$35 entry per rider (includes track repair levy)
Most laps completed in 3 hrs wins! Sponsored by Peter Stevens Motorcycles Geelong and TRANSMOTO dirt bike magazine
Classes are based on combined machine capacity / rider ages
3 classes -
- Under 501 cc E.g. (125 + 250) or (250 + 250)
- Vets over 70 years E.g. 28.y.o. + 42 y.o. qualifies for Vets class
- 2 stroke or 4 stroke? No difference, all together
- If 2 riders are riding one bike simply double your bikes capacity to work out which class you should enter
Course:
- Approximately 6 minute loop combining MX, enduro, grasstrack and a number of special 'extreme' sections to challenge the best riders!
- 'Extreme' sections will include steep climbs, log crossings, steep drops and might just include a little bit of mud!! Extreme sections will be optional shortcuts which will allow riders to save time. Clubman riders please note:- Don't worry! The extreme sections can be bypassed via an alternate route (takes longer).

That's basically it! Just team up with a mate and have a great days riding!

Riders please note: - For this event we will not be able to use our usual rider / work system, which means we will be short of helpers on the day. Can riders please bring a friend who would be willing to help with tasks like lap scoring and sweep riders. Please advise us beforehand if you will be bringing a helper for the day, it saves us a lot of stress!

We also require some working bee helpers to set out the track on both weekends before the event - Work bees are Sat. July 23 and July 30. This is a MUST HAVE as No helpers = no event!! If you want to get a real close look to suss out the track, this is the best way to do it!

Results
