Tom Ovens Leading National Cup Series In Nokia MX Nationals

With just 2 rounds in 2 weeks to go, a number of Sporting riders are showing the rest of Australia the talent that motocross in our region has produced. We have 5 members competing at the Nokia MX Nationals at rounds being held all over the country. This is the pinnacle of motocross racing in this country.

In the National Cup (125/250f) development series, Tom Ovens #36 (Peter Stevens Motorcycles) who is 1st overall in the series holds a narrow 5pt margin over 2nd place holder Mark Grove. Many would have witnessed his hard fought battle with Mark at Barrabool's round recently. National Cup has only 2 rounds left to decide the series. Throwing a spanner in the works, Tom recently dislocated his shoulder and will now have to tough it out in the last 2 National Cup rounds. Good luck Tom! Go Bomber!

Shaun Brunton #115 (Peter Stevens Motorcycles) is currently sitting in equal 16th place, with his results improving at every round. We are all used to Shaun riding on a larger capacity bike, but he has taken the challenge to compete on the smaller capacity bike in this very close field. He also competes with Mark Fagg #234 (Peter Stevens Motorcycles), whose results are continually developing.

In the Rookies Junior Development Rounds one of our talented junior riders has made it through to the final round of riders to meet in Newcastle in July. Mitch Cahill #60 (Peter Stevens Motorcycles) rode to qualify at the junior round at Wonthaggi in April. We wish Mitch the very best luck in his efforts in the final.

In the Pro Lites (125/250f) longtime member Troy Dorron #23 (No Fear Honda) is sitting in 3rd position. Unfortunately a crash at the last round dropped him from his previous 1st. position. Congratulations to Troy on his overall round win at Barrabool on May 21.

In the Pro Open (250/450f) class, new member Cody Cooper #20 (No Fear Honda) is placed within striking distance of 3rd place. Cody has the speed to get on the series podium, we wish him well.
