SMCC is running a Junior Development Program for 2007.
The purpose of the program is to foster and develop riders skills and confidence, in a friendly family atmosphere,
so that they may ride more safely and skillfully. The group will have sole access to the track. (No seniors)
Sessions are held Sunday mornings, starting at 9 am. Sign in from 8.30.
All junior members from Peewees to 250s are welcome to join in, but must have a recreational or race license and be a
SMCC member. We will split into groups of the same ability and do several activities, some of these will be timed and
others will skill based.
We will need parents to help with the activities. Riding will stop at midday before our normal ride day starts.
Some of the activities will include;
-
Practice starts
- Braking
- Cornering
- Slow riding
- And more
Hot dogs will be available for lunch, but riders should eat a balanced meal if riding in the afternoon so feel free
to bring your own lunch and join us at the club rooms.
A fee of $10 per family will apply and go towards the clubs Save Barrabool fund.
Register by putting your name on the list in the clubrooms,
or phone Sam Olliff on 0413997634 after hours.
SMCC Junior Race Team - SJRT
SMCC is introducing a Junior Race Team component of the Junior Development Program. This team will go through a
professional training and coaching program and will be encouraged to represent SMCC at outside competitions. Coaching
will be done on Sunday mornings alongside the Junior Development activities.
The coaches are Tom Ovens and Mark Willingham from EAGERPIG Developments. Tom and Mark are both level 2 accredited
coaches (of only 5 in Victoria) and both have been trained in physical fitness at the Canberra A.I.S. Individual
fitness, nutrition and training programs will be set. Prices for each participant are only $20 per day (based on a
min. class of 10) plus an upfront $200 fee as a show of commitment to the program. Course will be approximately 10
days minimum for the year. Coaching days will be set to avoid clashing with other MX events in our region.
